When considering a new roofing system or upgrading your current one, it is important to think about the impact it will have on the environment. TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin Roofing Membrane) and green roofs (which support and sustain plant life) are just about as enviro-friendly as they come! In addition to lowering energy costs and helping you reduce your company’s carbon footprint, ProCon Roofing will work on your behalf to determine if there are any available government grants or rebates.
TPO is a single-ply membrane comprised of recycled materials. It is resistant not only to UV rays (which helps regulate temperatures inside your building) but also to ozone and chemical exposure. TPO is non-toxic, extremely durable, low-maintenance and is backed by a full (material and labour) 30-year warranty.
Green roofs are constructed in layers. It will have the same base as a TPO roof (decking, vapour barrier, insulation and waterproof membrane) but built on top will be a protection layer, drainage/root barrier, substrate and finally, the vegetation. Because of the excess weight from these materials, further structural reinforcements will need to be considered. Depending on your location, government eco-roof incentive programs may also include a structural assessment grant to help offset these costs.
